Hotkey Service

Hotkey Service by ASUSTeK Computer Inc. is a background component for ASUS laptops that enables function-row shortcuts and special keys. It listens for Fn and dedicated hotkeys, routes them correctly to Windows and ASUS utilities, and displays on-screen indicators for actions such as adjusting volume and brightness, toggling the touchpad, switching keyboard backlight levels, changing performance modes, enabling Airplane Mode, capturing the screen, and switching display outputs.

Key points:

• Required for full functionality of ASUS hotkeys and on-screen displays (OSD)
• Runs silently as a Windows service with minimal resource usage
• Integrates with ASUS System Control Interface and works alongside MyASUS or Armoury Crate
• Preinstalled on many ASUS notebooks; updates are typically provided through MyASUS, Windows Update, or the ASUS support website
• Not a user-facing app; uninstalling or disabling it may cause Fn keys and OSD notifications to stop working
• May appear under related names such as ASUS Hotkey Service, ASUS Keyboard Hotkeys, or the legacy ATK Package
